What it takes to rank in Minneapolis's med spa Map Pack (the real numbers)

Key takeaways

Every figure in this post comes from Cascade's own point-in-time Map Pack tracking for the Minneapolis, Minnesota med spa market.

If you are a med spa owner in Minneapolis trying to figure out what actually gets you into the Google Maps Pack, the answer is probably not what you have been told.

I pulled the data from Cascade's live board for Minneapolis med spas. Here is what it shows.

All three top spots belong to 5.0-rated businesses

The Luxen Collective (position 1), Muse Aesthetics Co. (position 2), and Clinic Ellena Health + Wellness (position 3) all hold a perfect 5.0 rating. Not 4.8 or 4.9. Exactly 5.0.

That pattern holds further down too. Position 4 (Hjem Aesthetics) is also 5.0. When you look at who is clustering near the top, a perfect rating is a consistent thread.

That said, a 5.0 rating alone will not get you there. There are more than a dozen other 5.0-rated businesses on this board sitting at positions 11 and below.

The review count story is backwards from what you would expect

Here is the number that surprised me most: the number-one ranked business, The Luxen Collective, has 74 reviews. The board's median review count across all 30 businesses with data is about 151. The top-ranked business has fewer reviews than half the competition.

The top 3 average 134 reviews each. Businesses at positions 4 and below average about 309 reviews each.

In other words, many of the businesses that could not crack the top three have roughly twice the review volume of the ones that did.

Some of the highest review counts on the board: Radiance Medspa at position 15 has 1,784 reviews. Halo Healing Therapies at position 20 has 1,161. Emerald City Day Spa at position 6 has 786. None of them are in the top three.

That does not mean reviews do not matter. They likely matter for trust and visibility in ways that are hard to isolate from other signals. But raw review volume is clearly not what separates position 1 from position 15 in this market.

The top 5

Here is a look at the top-ranked businesses and their actual numbers:

Business Position Rating Reviews
The Luxen Collective 1 5.0 74
Muse Aesthetics Co. 2 5.0 82
Clinic Ellena Health + Wellness 3 5.0 245
Hjem Aesthetics 4 5.0 136
Ritual MedSpa 5 4.7 31

Ritual MedSpa at position 5 is worth a second look: a 4.7 rating and only 31 reviews, yet it holds a top-5 spot over businesses with far more reviews and higher ratings. That kind of outcome usually points to strong profile completeness, proximity, or Google Business Profile category alignment working in its favor.

What the leaders share

All three top-3 businesses have working websites. None of them are missing a web presence. That is a baseline that not every business on this board meets. One business at position 13 has no website listed and holds a 3.0 rating.

Beyond that, the common thread at the top is a high rating and a reasonably sized but not massive review base. The leaders did not out-volume their way to the top. They appear to have kept their profiles clean, maintained a perfect rating, and built a credible review count without needing to be the most-reviewed business in the market.

What is keeping everyone else out

The businesses stuck below position 6 often have impressive review counts but ratings that dip to 4.7, 4.8, or in one case as low as 3.0. A handful have strong ratings but very few reviews (under 25). And at least one business sits at position 13 with only 2 reviews and a 3.0 rating.

The gap is not that the top businesses are doing something exotic. It is that they are doing the basics consistently, and a lot of the competition is inconsistent on at least one key dimension.

If you are a Minneapolis med spa trying to move up

The data suggests that getting your rating to 5.0 and keeping it there matters more than chasing review volume. You do not need a thousand reviews to rank in the top 3 here. You need a clean reputation and a profile that gives Google no reason to push you down.

Frequently asked questions

How many Google reviews does a Minneapolis med spa need to rank in the top 3?

Based on Cascade's tracking data, not as many as you might think. The top-3 businesses average about 134 reviews, with the number-one spot held by a business with just 74. Some businesses with over 700 reviews do not crack the top 6. Volume matters, but it is not the deciding factor in this market.

Does a 5-star rating guarantee a top spot in Minneapolis?

No, but it appears close to a requirement. All three top-ranked businesses hold a 5.0 rating. That said, there are multiple other 5.0-rated businesses on this board at positions 11 and below, so rating alone is not sufficient.

What does it take to get into the Minneapolis med spa Google Maps Pack?

The data points to a combination: a perfect or near-perfect rating, a credible (not necessarily large) review base, a working website, and a well-maintained Google Business Profile. None of the top-3 businesses appear to have won on any single factor alone.
